Blob 1 and Blob 2 are programs for developmentally very young children, and are suitable for infant children and for a wide age range of children with special needs. The programs can be operated from one or two switches and so can be used by children with physical handicaps.
Blob 1
Blob 1 is a first introduction to computers and switches. The activities are simple and are designed to encourage and familiarise children to switch operation. The graphics are clear and attractive. Animation is used to attract attention. Although there are goals to achieve, children will find pleasure in playing Blob, and those who can show little positive achievement will not be discouraged.
The games include: Big Blob, Who is there? Spiky, Where is Spiky? Look who is here, Going home.
Blob 2
Blob 2 is concerned with selection procedures and making decisions and choices. The program introduces fundamental cognitive skills which the games are designed to foster in a way that will interest and motivate the child. As with Blob 1 colourful clear graphics enable satisfaction to be gained by a child, even if success is only achieved quite rarely.
