Build patterns on the screen, see them animate. Defaults to clear black and white images to give good contrast, but you can also set the colour options to suit an individual learner's needs.
It is designed for use by those who need visual stimulation and the development of visual skills associated with location, fixing and tracking.
The visually stimulating images can be displayed in a continuous sequence or can be used as part of early switch activities.
There are ten basic images which range in complexity from simple, sharp edged patterns to intricate combinations of shapes.
Background and foreground colours can be changed, providing a valuable assessment tool for the determination of visual preferences and contrast sensitivity.
The black and white option should prove particularly useful for children with very low vision and for those whose visual development is at a very early stage.
The optional sound can be used to encourage activity, but can be turned off for determining whether vision is being used.
Uses with other learners:
- children who experience difficulty with attention may find the images interesting and motivating
- printed images can be used for colouring and cutting to develop manipulative skills and hand-eye co-ordination
- part completed images can be used to work on symmetry closure and prediction
- descriptive language can be develped via association with the images and their development
- movements created on the screen can be replicated in dance and drama sessions.
