WordWork 2 extends and develops the tasks undertaken in WordWork 1 for Years 3-6. In addition, there are activities involving rhyming words and poetry construction, alliteration, contractions, noun types, use of stress and many other advance topics.
This unique program provides word level work for the literacy based classroom activities organised in week-by-week sections. It saves hours in preparation time and offers variety in a situation where repetition can soon become counter-productive.
Avoid fatigue with literacy based activities
WordWork is suitable for whole class, group and individual work, but is designed primarily for the teacher to use with the whole class or large group. The word displays are big and clear and can be seen by everyone on an ordinary classroom computer screen. This gives the teacher the power to present material in a motivating and professional way, keeping attention on key htmlects of learning. The variety of approaches avoids literacy fatigue.
Lots of varied activities
For each set of words there is a choice of 14 activities, including:
- Shannon`s game
- Word-shapes
- Alphabetical order
- Word sorting
- Adding, deleting and changing letters
There are over 40 preset word-lists for each year group covering everything from CVC words, to homophones, assonance and alliteration. You can also create your own lists.
Prepared lists save hours of time
The amount of material organised for instant use in this program is truly stunning.
The teachers books are models of clear guidance and also contain suggestions for extension work away from the computer, together with record sheets that can be photocopied.
WordWork enables you to involve pupils in activities that are impractical using other methods. Investigate spelling rules - for example:
- What happens to the "i" after "e" and what are the exceptions?
- When making a plural when do you change the "y" to "i" and add "es" and when do you just add "s"?
Investigate languages, involve pupils, improve literacy- have fun.
