Being able to hide away menus and control icons means that the developmentally young users, especially those with touch screens, will face less confusion yet can have greater control and choice. Setting up grids for switch users has been made easier and scanning now can include all of the menus and icons.

Most of the familiar features remain in place but improved resources and management tools will help teachers create stunning grids. Massive effort has gone into a new library of images, sample grids and templates. The availability of pop-up grids and being able to write into grid cells offers enormous scope for novel activities. The ubiquitous talking word processor, Clicker Writer, has been given a range of realistic new voices together with additional languages. There is even talk of being able to hear more than one voice from the same grid!

Users of Clicker 4 can upgrade and when they do so they can add additional user licences at a discount.

There is definitely a “wow” factor in looking at each feature of John Crick’s latest masterpiece. I am now ready to get stuck into creating grids which deliver far beyond my meagre artistic talents!
